How ironic would it be if...?
Just heard a report that the number of atheists who believe that aliens have landed on earth is over a million and growing.
How ironic would it be if that growing group ended up being the first followers of a new pantheon of gods?

Not believing in one popular fictional creature doesn't have much to do with whether you believe in other, completely different fictional creatures.
In this case, "aliens" (intelligent life from another planet) are quite likely to exist, or have existed, or will exist. Having contact with them? Unlikely... BUT, STILL more likely than "God".
Are you suggesting that people would start worshiping aliens as "gods"?
Sure, and if you watch the "History" Channel, all those gods could well have been aliens...

I can see them now, knocking on doors with a handful of pamphlets to spread the news.

History's taken more interesting turns than that. It's possible.

No, that would not be ironic at all, because that is not ironic.

THAT is ironic. Please make a note of it.
