Why is Christ the Redeemer considered a Wonder?
It's a jolly nice statue, but how does it compare to any of the other Wonders?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhat tenses are the following sentences:?
We didn’t have enough money to go further.
We’ve already been to Europe.
We had spent all our savings by the end of the summer.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. :)
1 AnswerWords & Wordplay7 years agoWhich sentence is correct?
A) A person walks into a room and he/she sits down.
B) A person walks into a room and they sit down.
Can "they" be used in relation to a single person or is it exclusive to multiple persons? Personally I do not see any problem with sentence B. It seems natural to me. However I am unsure.
3 AnswersLanguages8 years agoIs it inappropriate for a white person to sing 'Swing Low, Sweet Chariot' in public?
I was watching an episode of Scrubs in which they implied it was. However I don't see why that should be the case. I understand the context of the song and I remember being taught the song in choir in primary school. It was a good and meaningful song.
Does anyone agree with Scrubs? Should I not sing it in public?
7 AnswersOther - Society & Culture8 years agoGrammar question: which phrase is correct?
Which is correct:

'Which famous people are he friends with?'
Any help would be appreciated.
5 AnswersLanguages8 years agoWhat tense is the sentence: I'm looking forward to spending...?
I'm particularly confused about the 'looking forward'. IS that a verb, an idiom... what?
Any help would be appreciated. :)

13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoSlavery: is it right, or wrong?
How do you justify your answer?
note: I asked this question previously and got some fantastic and well-considered responses. I look forward to more. Unfortunately my last question was deleted for no reason (typical of YA), so I'm asking it again.

2 AnswersLanguages8 years agoDoes 0.9~ = 1 (maths question)?
When I was first introduced to this factoid, I had an instant knee-jerk reaction to it. "Bullshit!", I said. "They're both obviously different numbers".
However now that I've looked into it a little more and corrected some of my misconceptions of mathematics, I'm quite convinced. So I was wondering, does anyone know of a flaw I might be missing?
My apologies to those who have no doubt explained this a hundred times before.
1 AnswerMathematics8 years agoGiven complete freedom of choice, where in the world would you most like to live, and why?
Don't be lame and pick your home. Be original and creative. :)
I'd like to live to live in Seattle. I wen't there once some years back and loved the atmosphere of the place. I also love to complain a lot and the United States is good for that.
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture8 years agoGrammar question on grammatical classes?
Which grammatical class do the words 'quite' and 'abstract' belong to in the sentence: Yes, it’s quite abstract, isn’t it?
I'm quite sure they're both adjectives, but some confirmation or contradiction would be appreciated. :)
2 AnswersLanguages8 years agoAt what age could you grow a decent beard?
I could grow one at 18ish but many of my friends then - and even now in their early to mid twenties - cannot.
A further question for girls: do you like a guy with facial hair?
5 AnswersHair9 years agoDo moderate Muslims condemn the actions of their fundamentalist counterparts?
I am referring specifically to two issues:
1) The treatment of women in some Islamic countries as second-class citizens with few rights;
2) The threats of violence and even death issued to people in western nations for exercising their freedom of speech (eg. see 'everyone draw Muhammad' day).
I do not believe I have ever heard any moderate Muslims speak out against these serious issues. If it is true that the views of Muslim fundamentalists are not as common in the greater Muslim community as many people believe, then I invite moderate Muslims to defend their poor representation in the media and in popular culture.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoDoes the report/repeal system on yahoo answers work?
I've had a few (not many) answers of mine reported in the past. A couple have been justified however some others most certainly were not. I have always repealed those I felt were not in violation of the community guidelines however I have never received a notification of the results.
I know many other people believe the report system is often abused, but has anyway ever made a successful repeal?
5 AnswersYahoo Answers9 years agoWhen/where is it mentioned that Hawkeye is partially deaf?
I am presently doing a small project involving deaf super heroes in response to a recent story about a hearing-impared child with a love for super heroes.

I am curious as to where it is mentioned (ie. what issues or story arcs) that Hawkeye is partially deaf. Any help would be appreciated.
2 AnswersComics & Animation9 years agoIf God asked you to kill your son, would you be willing to go through with it?
...or would you refuse?
To clarify, I am referencing the story of Abraham and Isaac. I realise that God stopped Abraham from actually going through with the act. However, the fact remains that Abraham was willing to go through with it and believed God was the sort of God to make such a command.
So if you would be willing if commanded by God, how do you defend such action as moral?
