Contribution JSA - What happens after?
I am wondering if somebody could help
I worked for a Company that went into Administration in July. I went on contribution based JSA thereafter and understand that I have six months on this benefit only. Since July when I became unemployed I must have applied for approx 200 jobs and apart from the occasional email saying thank you but no thank you I have not heard anything back.
My dilemma is that I took out an Unemployment Protection Policy about 2 or so years ago. Since July I have not yet received 1 monthly benefit back of approx £1000 pm as they will not pay out until my notice in lieu finishes (which is 1 week for every year worked) To cut a long story short my Notice finished on 18th Sept so I am applying for my first benefit now - one of the conditions of this benefit is that I claim JSA - after 6 months i.e. January I will not get contribution JSA, what happens, as I also lose the benefit if i don't get JS.
My husband works full time and we have savings - i don't care if my JSA is small, i just want it so i can get my unemployment benefit whilst I can and whilst I am looking for a job.
I understand that there is a scheme set by the government whereby you can go on courses and i will get JSA but I am reluctant to sit in class room style surroundings for weeks on end sharing a computer with others, when I have this facility at home all day.
I am 43 years of age
If somebody could shed some light as to what my options are after the 6 months I would be ever so grateful
Thank you

Stick to the contract you agreed. If you need adjustments, talk to them and renew the said contract with a new contract.
Law operates within double rules.

After 6 months your JSA C closes and you put in a new claim to JSA Income Based... Unfortunately because your husband works full-time you won't be eligible for Income Based JSA. You lose eligibility as soon as you earn over £121pw between you so it's for people on very low or zero income. Courses don't make you eligible for JSA at all.
So the answer is, once your NI contributions run out after the 6 months (I'm not sure when that will be exactly in your situation) you won't be entitled to any more benefit payments for yourself as your husband is able to support your living costs.
You can try applying for Housing Benefit but if you have savings over £16k you won't be eligible for any benefits except Child Tax Credits and Chlid Benefit. Your husband may be eligible for Working Tax Credits if his earnings are low.
Summary: You'll recieve JSA for up to 6 months it will then stop automatically, look at eligibility for Housing Benefit and Tax Credits.

You get placed onto income based JSA which will evaluate your sources extra advantageous than £6K in money and or different incoming quantities of money besides as that on your place carry would be seen on your declare. then you would desire to flow in the process the terrible 2 week connect up factor the place each 2 weeks you would be able to desire to flow to the place of work have an consultant sit down at a terminal with you and fill in a log e book of jobs I utilized for and likewise what I truly have achieved to make myself extra employable. noticeably terrible, yet judging by potential of the apocalypse occurring interior the united kingdom employment i think of plenty extra human beings will journey this (I truly have experienced this basically vicariously)
