I'm not sure if I was dreaming or awake?

In the past week I have had a couple of odd experiences and I'm still unsure as to whether I was asleep or not. The first experience was early in the morning (I think about 6 or 7) and I thought I heard one of my neighbours banging on the wall and yelling "shut up!" but no one was making any noise that I could hear. When I asked my brother later that day he said he never heard any banging at all and I was quite surprised as he would've been right next to the wall separating our house and the neighbours.

And last night I remember hearing knocks on our front door (there were 5 right after the other). It was still dark. I went to check my phone for the time but the battery had gone so I don't know what time it was. I was quite scared and confused.

Does any of this make sense? Was I dreaming or what? Thanks in advice.

Update:

No I'm not on any drugs and my brother wasn't pranking me. He said he didn't hear the noises both nights and I asked my house mate about the banging on the wall and she didn't hear anything either. It's kind of freaking me out because it seemed so real to me and when I heard the noises I felt wide awake.

If you were on drugs it would make sense... Your brother might be playing a prank on you. Or... Maybe your going schytzo. Ive had similar experiences... I just decided to live with it. However. I dont think you were dreaming :/ just a thought.

    *then... your crazy. JK

I was trying to be realistic, but heres what I think.

It's all in your mind, Im sure you know that. You are the perceiver, and with in that, the truth of the banging is in you. Whats more important, what the noise is? or why is the noise happening? Why is it affecting your life? Think. Look inside.
