im having car problems, simple question, help?

sometimes my car wont start up, it'll sound it will, but it wont ignite. the battery is fine, its pretty new still, its been about a year since i changed the spark plugs.

the only problem that seems to happen is that, the heat wont come on until you drive a little, especially in the cold. my car doesnt seem to want to start up during the cold mornings. what seems to be the problem? ill name the problems as a list down below

Problems:

car wont start up during the cold weathers

Heat wont come on as fast during the winter, have to drive for a couple miles before you start feeling it.

the car is a Nissan Sentra Exe, 2002, it has about 140k miles on it.

its not the battery, and probably not the spark plugs neither.

any guess guys?

it could be a bad starter or ignition. I have the same problem with my 1991 Nissan 240SX

the heat thing is normal for a car because the engine has to take time to warm up to heat the car.

cold weather is always rough on cars and it would behave abnormally.

but I would check the starter or the ignition at a shop or do it yourself if you know how or want to try

It wouldn't hurt you to change them anyway because of the mileage on the car.

you're probably right about it not being the plugs and the battery.

What viscosity motor oil are you using? How cold is it where you are? A lower cold weight oil such as 5w30 may help. 5w30 is thinner than 10w30 when it is cold, allowing it to flow through the engine smoother on a cold start. Heavier oil can cause hard starts on cold mornings. I would start here, changing your oil is cheap, especially if you know how to do it yourself. Even if your manual says to use 10w30, 5w30 will do more good in extreme cold and using a slightly different oil than stated in your manual will NOT hurt your engine.

The delay in heat is normal as you have to wait for the coolant to heat up first. The colder it is when you start the vehicle, the longer it will take to heat up.

As for the hard start, that could be any number of things. The vehicle would need to be inspected to try to narrow down the cause.

1.check for corrosion on the battery cables and terminal posts. If they are corroded try cleaning them with a terminal cleaner. Electricity likes a clean pathway.

2.make sure all electrical connections are tight and clean.

It sounds to me that your getting the voltage just not the amps and it is alot cheaper than guessing at what it could be.

how did you verify the battery? in basic terms because of the fact this is displaying 12V on a voltmeter does no longer mean this is good. you would be able to desire to load attempt the battery. how previous is it? if this is over 3 years previous you need to besides replace it. additionally, initiate the engine and placed a voltmeter around the battery terminals, if this is displaying below 13V you want an alternator. additionally make effective the battery cables are tight, (the place the effective one is going into the ability distribution field and to the starter, and the place the neg. one grounds to the physique and the engine).
