I'm Bipolar but can't afford my meds right now. How do I keep my emotions under control?

I'm Bipolar but can't afford my medication, so I'm severely unbalanced. Any little thing sets me off, like my makeup not looking good enough. I scream, throw things, cry, etc. at the drop of a hat. How do I keep my emotions under control while I'm having a manic episode? I'm used to instant relief, via cutting and/or smoking. I'm trying to stop cutting & my husband is controlling when it comes to smoking so I don't know how to handle myself & calm down when I get angry now that I can't have my vices. I snap the second something goes wrong, no matter how minor it is. I have a body opponent bag, but beating on it makes me even more pissed off. Help??

Dont let out ur anger by getting angry and trying to release it... Anger just makes more anger: finding calmness is the solution. Look online for tips on finding inner peace... Visit blackdogtribe.com for online support.. Also Ur selfesteem is very low right now. U need to find ways to improve it, look online for tips. Also try learning and doing new things; start small and this will give u a sense of achievement. .. Visit yourlifeyourvoice.org to talk to a free online councellor.. Look up exercise and depression online it releases endorfins which improve mood and brain chemistry. and Art Therapy; channelling what ur feeling into something creative helps ur brain process the negativity in ur head. also find some volunteer work; helping others or nature builds selfesteem, gives life new meaning gives perspective and good karma... u dont have to believe in god but finding some spirituality can really help and good karma is a good start... basically research all u can on depression then when u find things that help come on here and share with the other deprrssed people, more good karma. Why not join clubs groups and activities in ur community where you ll meet like minded people. Or challenge urself by joining groups u wouldnt normally be interested in.  good luck: and dont be afraid of going to ur doctor, be totally honest and they ll understand and be able to help; medication can work wonders, like lifting a weight from ur shoulders.

Guilt is generally taught (although i don't reduction that there maybe some who lift it over from different lives?????)...Most likely first within the loved ones and accelerated family of starting place. For illustration, my daughter-in-law shames my grandsons for "mendacity" when they're most effective 3 and four yrs. Historic. I draw back once I hear her use the word on these innocents...I would choose to educate them about "fact-telling," now not lying. They're tabula rasas and don't have any in poor health intention at the back of their typical desire to have things their manner by using now not telling the reality (who hit who first, who had the toy first, and many others.). It extensively saddens me to grasp she is introducing the proposal of guilt by way of "shaming" them. All kids are helpful innocents; it's we (family, society, culture, faith, and so on.) who corrupt their innocence. Is shaming a method of manage? Decidedly!!!! We look to not be competent to tolerate individuals who peek outside the envelope, folks who think for themselves or who question the reputation quo. For a lot of, those who find themselves "different" are a hazard. I have experienced this all my existence, and still do for in my family and beyond many are not comfy with my off-beat, impartial pondering. Shaming brings guilt, which brings worry, which creates sheep-like, unquestioning serfs, who're with no trouble managed. I'm Sirius

You've got to find a way to get medication. Talk to your doctor about your situation. Apply to NORD (National Organization for Rare Disorders...NORD.org) or NeedyMeds.org. I've used NORD and they helped me get medication when I couldn't afford it.

Talk to your local hospital or mental health facility and see if they can help you.

You could also apply for emergency medical assistance from your state. Talk to a social worker about it. I had to do this as well.

Cutting and smoking aren't slowing your problems or making it better. I know it seems like it but it's not. it's making it more complicated.

Other than what I've suggested, the best course of action to take is to check yourself into the hospital and get inpatient care.

We are not medically trained and neither is the internet.

There might be a free clinic where you live that might be able to locate some med. or financial help for you so you can get your meds. Ask your doctor, check the yellow pages, or call any local mental health clinic.

Ask your Dr. if they have free samples. Many of them do, they get them from the drug companies, or you can contact some of the drug companies, and they will provide them to you for free or low cost. Or if you are in the U.S. go to your local county mental health facility, they will hook you up with free meds.
