Is a troll the same thing as a 'hoax'? To feel superior, in fooling people?

    yeah they're both 'attention seekers', but a hoax, shows itself as an official statement, whereas a troll, has a hateful speech

    A troll pulls hoaxes. I assume they feel superior once they have accomplished what they set out to do (which is usually to incite an emotional response out of people - or any sort of response for that matter).

    I guess that's why a lot of users state the phrase, "Don't feed the trolls."

    Not really, though a troll often tries to pass hoaxes off as real (examples: "Did you hear that Justin Bieber is dead?" or "did you hear that 200,000 people on the 'Los Angeles freeway' died?").

    Troll: a mythical creature who lives under a bridge; or someone who on the Internet who "asks" a "question" designed to elicit highly emotional responses (example: "why are all French people ugly?")

    Hoax: A totally made-up story designed to get gullible people to believe it (example: see above).
