Algebra one word problem, help please?

Don't give me the direct answer because I don't want to be cheating, just tell me how I am supposed to set this up as an equation;

Do-Nothing #1 can count 5 more ceiling dots per minute than Do-Nothing #2. If they work together for 30 minutes straight, they can count a (combined) total of 3,450 dots. How many dots can Do-Nothing #2 count per minute?

(Again, I'm only asking HOW to set this up to solve, and tell me why you got the equation that you do as your answer, thanks!)

    Let rate of count for #2 be x per min

    so rate of counting dots for #1 is x+5 per min

    They work straight for 30 mins

    so #2 counts 30x dots

    and #1 counts 30(x+5) dots

    total dots counted is 3450

    so 30x+ 30(x+5) = 3450

    You can solve further

    Hope this helps
