Having questionable military surplus in the military [debate's] your thought's?

I felt like it was kind of a interesting exchange. I know A paster in the Military used to have a Bayonet on a stick. Which polotician do think came out good on that one?

For decades now the Republicans have wanted to 'own' the issue of national security. They've ALWAYS accused the Democrats of being soft on defense, soft on communism, soft on terrorism, etc. etc., things that only they, the Repubs, can protect us from.

EVERY Democratic president is accused of 'decimating the military'. To avoid these charges, Democrats as well as Republicans want to increase military spending every year, even at the end of a long, expensive war when we simply don't need to spend as much as we did the year before.

Romney pointed out that we have fewer ships now than in 1917, but Obama points out that our ships do different things, and we don't need as many these days. They're not coal powered steamships. We don't use ships to lob shells at targets on shore, or to fight other ships. Romney said we have fewer airplanes than we did since the Air Force was founded, but they're a different kind of airplane. We still have unquestioned superiority on the oceans and in the air. We're building two new generations of fighter/bombers that cost hundreds of millions apiece, and nobody can beat our current fleet!

Romney says "We don't know what's coming. We have to be ready for anything!" Reagan doubled our defense budget in the 80s and Bush doubled it again after 9/11. Romney wants to double it again. It's just what Republicans do.

Pic is about as conservative as a slush - a cross between a slut and a drunk.

Romney showed he knew his stuff and the reason Romney didn't feel a need to correct Obama is bc the factcheckers will do that for him tomorrow. I have read articles about naval leaders fearing Obama has cut back our navy too much and I am sure some of those articles will be re-appearing in the next few days.

Obama backed himself into another corner he won't be allowed to crawl out of.

As a Republican I'm bothered by one thing. Obama asked why Romney wanted to budget more for the military than the military had asked for. Romney never answered that question and Obama never pressed him on the issue. That bothers me.

I actually thought that both did well and all roads lead to Rome! I think the winner in the military debate was Israel! Israel came out the winner!
