I have posted this as a separate question and I was advised to provide details of the problem here. So here it goes:
I am using several computers, and I have both Firefox and Internet Explorer in all of them. In all cases, when I try to use Messenger in Mail, I can see what I type while I'm typing it, but I can't see it when I send it. Also, anything that my party is typing (I know they're typing since I see the "so-so is typing..." message appear), I can't see it when I'm supposed to receive their message. Only a time stamp shows up. This behavior started a day or two ago.
Also, as of late, "Online Contacts" doesn't appear when I arrive on the page, so I have to refresh the page to make it appear. When it does, it's collapsed, despite the fact that the last time I used it, it was un-collapsed. This is very annoying behavior. Add to this the problem described in the above paragraph and Messenger Mail becomes utterly useless.
I have researched this issue here and it seems it's a known issue, but no workaround is offered. I really need a workaround since I cannot install the Messenger standalone program on most of the computers I use.
BTW, note that this is not the standalone version. I have received responses from well-intentioned people who didn't understand this despite my making it clear, who recommended the reinstallation of the standalone version. Whatever solutions they suggest for fixing problems there, such as reinstalling, will not work for this version of the messenger. I can't reinstall the messenger embedded in Mail. It's part of the yahoo page. The standalone version works fine.
The two computers that matter most to me are as follows:
Computer 1:
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit with Service Pack 1
Dell OptiPlex 960
Intel Core2 Duo CPU @3GHz, 4GB installed RAM.
Internet Explorer version 9.0.8112.16421CO
Mozilla Firefox version 12.0 (Yeah, older. Can't upgrade - I do not own this computer.)
Computer 2:
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with Service Pack 1
HP G72 Notebook
Intel Core i3 Duo CPU @2.27GHz, 4GB installed RAM.
Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421
Mozilla Firefox version 16.0.1

Hi,
I've been experiencing some issues with Yahoo Messenger in Mail for the last week or so.
Messenger application does not load at all when I open Mail. Sometimes I have to sign out and back in several times before it will load Messenger. Even if it loads, it does not load the IM box properly (sometimes its just a white rectangle with the loading icon) so I can't send out messages. Other times, it will load and I'm able to click on a name on my Messenger and type messages but it will not display the message on my screen - I know the other person is receiving them because they're responding to the message but even their messages back are not being displayed.
I'm currently using IE 8, Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600, 128-bit, running Windows XP Professional.
It used to work just fine until recently. Nothing has changed on my laptop. Please resolve these issues as soon as possible.

I also have problems with yahoo messenger, the browser version. I can only see the date and time of the IM I'm sending/receiving, that the other person is typing, but not the actual message. I use Wndows XP and tried both under Mozilla Firefox 16.0.1 and IE 9. Everything was working well until yesterday morning when I tried around 9:00 AM (GMT+1).
Thank you.

yeah, for a couple weeks now, having problems with the Mail version of Messenger. What's going on Yahoo??? My Top Contact (and only contact is also having the exact same problems). I use Chrome and IE on Win 7. My contact uses firefox (can't figure out why) on Win 7.
The problems are:
1. Usually when log into Mail, Messenger doesn't come up.
2. Have to "Refresh" to get Messenger to become visible.
3. Have to "Refresh" to get Instant Message session to open cleanly. It usually first opens with just "spinning", like it's having problems loading the Session.
4. Then there are a variety of other problems.

I use Internet Explorer 9 with Windows 7 operating system.
Quite suddenly my Messenger in Yahoo mail doesn't function correctly. I cannot see messages I type, and cannot see messages sent to me. However, the recipient of my IM messages, CAN see what I've sent to him! This problem started just yesterday. I'm using the latest version of Yahoo Mail.

Same issue on my Win 7 64 bit machines using Chrome and FF.
Based on the start of this issue - around the time of MS updates for some security issue, and the fact that more than one browser is affected, I'm guessing it has something to do with the latest Windows update. Perhaps ports are being blocked or perhaps windows "sees" YM in mail as something evil.
And if not by windows, then perhaps by the annoying parasites that always require updating immediately after a windows update; Adumbe (Adobe perhaps to you) and Jive *** (perhaps Java to you). Why these OS parasites need to be updated every time windows is updated is troubling and evidence of poor design in their coding.
It could also be caused by antivirus software. However, each of my machines having this issue has different brand of AV, so I kind of doubt they are the culprit.

I use Mac OS X version 10.5.8 operating with Safari 5.0.6.
I use Yahoo Plus, my IM was inactive and vanished for couple of weeks.
It came back but broken, when I write some thing in comes xxxxx, and it does not show any thing.
Also I cannot read IM from others at once.
I hope they could solve the problem ASAP, I use IM almost every day for many things.
If it goes same, I may switch to other one, after 10 years using yahoo!

I am using Firefox 16.0.1 on Windows 7.
Yesterday and today I am unable to access Messenger within Yahoo Mail. When I log into Messenger, it indicates none of my contacts are online and then kicks me out about 30 seconds later. I have messages from contacts in my Conversations folder, so they can apparently still chat me, but I am not receiving the chats in Messenger. I am unable to respond to their chats in any way (other than creating an emailing).

My Messenger in mail is not showing my list of contacts. I can still receive messages and respond but have no idea who's online.
I'm using Mac 10.7.4 with Firefox 16.0.1.
also
My messenger client or stand alone program Version 3.0.2 build (235554) never clears it's connection window. I know it's connected because it flashes me that new mail has arrived and I see notifications when contacts come online and go offline but the connection window is still spinning like it's trying to connect even though the above activity tells me it has indeed connected.

I am having issues on two different desktop computers, one uses Windows XP and on that one I have tried using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox. On the other computer I am using Windows 7 with Internet Explorer. Have the same problems on both computers.
