Boxing: Where do you rate Danny Garcia at 140?
Seems this forum is hating on the kid. He is the Ring champion. Boxrec rates him only behind Juan Manuel Marquez. He holds the WBA and WBC titles. Where is he with you and what does he need to do to get your respect. I'm already a fan.

I have him at 4 simply. He's pretty good, but I think he's behind Mattysse, Marquez, and Rios. But a lot of people thought Thommy was going to KO Ray Leonard, so maybe Garcia will keep beating people that are supposed to beat him like Khan was supposed to beat him. Khan was already thinking about his next fight when he fought Garica, so maybe other guys will do that as well. I mentioned some things in a similar question, and I think if Garcia gets certain fundamental things down pat then he can reach new heights.

1. JMM: Would school Garcia.
2. Matthysse: Hes only 2 losses were B/S!
3. Rios: Beat Alvarado, Antillon and Acosta
4. Lamont Peterson: Has a draw with Ortiz and also beat Khan.
5. Garcia NOT PROVEN!
All these guys have fought tuff opponents.

Garcia is weird man. He has great power and holds his own very well, yet I still see him as a very vulnerable fighter. Vulnerable of getting out-boxed silly if that big ko punch doesn't come. I rank him behind Marquez and Mathysse with Rios on his tail.
And I honestly think Judah has a very good shot at winning a decision over him.

I am not hating on Danny Garcia but being realistic. Danny Garcia made his name by beating Amir Khan when Amir became careless and impatient. He was schooling Danny in the early part of the fight until Danny got lucky and land a good punch on his glassy chin. Beating Erik Morales doesn't have enough merit to be in his band wagon. Erik is over staying himself in boxing and no longer have what is needed to compete on a high level and in fact a lot of fighters can beat him now hands down. I understand the achievement Danny made in beating Erik but I would rather give him more credit in beating Amir Khan than Morales even though how impressive it is. Let him fight some more on his present division of 140# and he won't run out of competition and like I said there's a lot of notable fighters for him to test himself and receive the respect.

1) LMAO at the guy who gave props for knocking out "smelly" khan.. you know what it is....
2) marquez is probably his only competition besides overgrown 140 pounders that should be welterweights.
he needs to fight a crafty guy to get his full props. not sluggers.. garcia has a good combination of boxing ability and punching power. all he needs is a MAJOR name fighter to receive the recognition he already deserves.
one would think derailing amir khan and putting morales(who was making a hopkins/ veteran return and beating good fighters) would get him some props. time will tell.

I love the guy too Sean G but he is missing a lot when and if he fights Zab which I don'y really think will happen we will beable to see all his flaws. He is really a tough kid but tough don't cut it in boxing skills do.

I rank him at 2...but I still think he will lose to mathysse and Rios...he needs to beat them both to get my respect
