I've read the catcher in the rye and what i can say about holden is that he is quite lost but he still has an idea of the type of person he wants to be and some of his values.for example he wouldn't have sex with the prostitute. he also has good intentions for the most part. when he said he would like to be like the catcher in the rye, i think he meant he wanted to persevere children's innocents like his sister. mabe thats because he felt he lost his.
