I am a Senior in High School and I have current opted for Computer Science and Computer Engineering. I may go into either one. I realize that my area of interest is quite broad, and Comp Sci/Engin. wont cover everything. I might have to do a double major in Biotechnology. I have also very interested in Nanotechnology, and I think i will do a masters in it, but this comes later on. What should I study in Undergraduate? I feel like there might be an area of specialization that i may not know about. Biomedical science sounds way too specific and it seems that it does not have too many job prospects. I am all over the place, please give me some suggestions.

Hey guys, I am 16 and my height 5'5"-5'6"... my dad is around 5'7- 5'8 and my mom is 5'3.

I know i am in the middle of the height range and around what I guess i have the potential for. But, I want to grow to at least 5'8-5'9.

Now here is the thing, I read that one needs to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night to grow properly. Since the last year I have been sleeping 5-4 hours each night... which is not enough. Have I done any irreversible damage? I am going to correct my sleeping habits and try to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. Can i still reverse any damage that I have done? I think the body release some hormones during sleep that are necessary for growth. Can i take any vitamins or do something to increase the output of these hormones?

I recently found out that i have developed a Vitamin D deficiency, which i believe is very important for bone growth. I have started taking supplements each day. I take Vitamin D-3 4000 iu each day. Is this good enough?

Also, I want to know if there are any exercises or stretches that can give me a boost even if its small. I realize that height really depends on ones genetic programming, but still, I would like to try and get taller. (BTW I swim every summer which seems to help me get taller each summer).

I am most worried about any damage that I have done by not sleeping enough.

I am desperate to get taller, because I dont want to short...

Hi guys,

I am having a bit of trouble with SAT critical reading. Here is my background- I am taking AP English (B- right now) (i know, not to hot)... and i am a junior. I have not yet taken a "real" SAT yet, just practice test from the blue book.

I usually score 550 to 650- on the critical reading part. I don't really have any problems with my strategy, but what happens is that I end up over-thinking and consequently wasting time.

When ever i answer a question, i end up overlooking the right answer and missing the necessary details. When I go back to check my answers, i end up realizing that the answer was right there, but i circled the wrong answer because I missed a few details, or i did not read the correct choice thoroughly.

I feel very dejected, because i cannot bring my score up to where i want it to be, which is 700+.

The same thing happens in the Writing section... I over-think or overlook the right answer.

Could you please give some tips or feedback?

P.S.-- I do know that practice makes perfect. ;)

Hi Guys, i have a question about my application.

Here is some background info: I am a Junior right now.

Moved from India to USA in 7th grade.

7th and 8th grade: straight A student (i know this doesnt matter in college...) In 7th grade I was in Chicago... then I moved to Missouri in 8th grade.

I had Straight A's in my Freshman year- took the best/ hardest classes possible... None of them were AP or Pre-ap... Finished my freshman year in Missouri.

In my 10th grade... I moved to Canada.... They had a completely different system of education with 4 classes each semester... I didnt do so well over there... 92 in combined science(bio, phys and chem together)... and mid 83 in english, French( super advanced for my level) 87 and Team leadership(volunteering and Pep Rallies) 90

After Finishing my first Semester in Canada... I moved to Texas to finish the second semester... and i was back on track and got Straight A's again... I took pre-ap french 2, Pre-ap phys, Pre-Ap Algebra 2, Pre- Ap English.

Then at the beginning of Junior year... I moved to NJ and thats where i am right now... doing my junior year.

Point is I have moved/transferred A LOT! (because of Parent's professional reasons)

This is just in North America... I have moved A lot in Asia too..

And the total comes up to be about... 11 times! I bet you are shocked :)

but anyways... my question is...

Will the Universities in Canada and USA consider this as a factor when i put this in my application (that I have moved a lot)? Will i get some leeway and leniency? Will they go easy on me for admissions (maybe just a tiny bit)?

I was thinking of putting this in my Application letters/Essays... hoping for some sympathy :) ( LOL )

i am willing to go to university, and was considering medical field, along with biomedical engineering/ biotechnology.

I am willing to do other engineering careers and business, etc. but NO LAW!

I also want something that would be relatively recession proof... or not. (nothing is recession proof, except doctors)

But i really want a job that pays highly, and i dont really have any interests... except i love bio and chem... (sigh)basically i really want to become a doctor, but i want a second option too. :D

Hey guys, i am a high school Junior ( yeah, i know that i am old) and i want to start playing drums.

I am going to learn by myself, since i dont really want to pay for lessons, and i know there is alot of stuff online. That being said, i have a couple of question for you pros out there.

1. What kit should i buy?

--Since i live in an apartment, a regulat kit might be a nuisance to others, i am not sure if my neighbors downstairs will hear them or not, i have wooden/ carpet floor. Anyways, i was alway leaning toward an electronic kit, but as i researched, i came upon the prices and they were not exactly cheap... so, are there any begginer sets ( complete set), not too expensive, $100- $200, give or take. Also should i go for tabletop electronic set or, a standard kit. On youtube, they both sounded the same, and table tops are a bit cheaper.

So please tell me a kit that i could buy online (amazon, BB, etc.) and i would like it to be electronic, also in my price range ( i am a little flexible).

2. Do you know any websites or have any links, for begginers, that take them up from A and teach them until Z. Ofcourse Free is better (best). any videos, tutorials, etc.

-- but mainly, i am really looking for a set...

also, usually ellipse equations are =1 but this one is = -23/64
