Brady vs. United States- a description in simple words please...?
I am supposed to write a personal position paper on gun laws and i have to use Brady vs. U.S. supreme court case.(high school)
My position: Background checks should be mandatory to purchase firearms.
I tried researching a little bit about it, but most of the websites use complicated terms, and I am unable to understand it. I have the gist of it, but i need to understand it fully, so i need a description in simple words of what happened and what the case is about.
TL;DR- I need a description of Brady vs US in simple english.

Reducing ONLY “gun violence” does not reduce crime or violence. Gun control/bans don't work, as proven hundreds of times. “Gun free zones“ put people in danger, because criminals know the exact locations of *live defenseless target zones.* http://theacru.org/acru/harvard_study_gun_control_...
It is a basic human right of every human being to be able to adequately defend our selves, families, homes and communities. People who want to repress or prohibit that right either want to harm or control you. There is no rational argument that anyone can come up with in favor of the assault, battery, rape, and murder of defenseless victims.

We actually have LESS violent crimes than many industrialized nations: less assault, battery, rape, and murder. We also have less property crimes, overall. The USA is not even in the top 10 for murder, by ANY method:

There IS ONE gun control law that does prevent crime: When Kennesaw GA mandated that citizens have handguns, ammo and know how to use them, their crime rate plummeted. Not just "gun crime" but ALL CRIME. Violence rates decrease when private citizens are armed and trained.
