i am into computers and it is certainly my interest, but i am trying to built my first custom computer and so i went on newegg.com and picked out the most updated components for a customized Gaming computer. I am hypothetically making a new computer but i just want to know if all these components are compatible with each other. Please keep in mind this is for my learning experience, and im not really going to buy all of this. help me out and let me know if this is good or if something is not right:

PLEASE-just list the component names. I don't need all that info, and it just lags the hell out my computer.

That case is a good case. It'll be fine.

Personally I don't spend so much on a power supply, but this will be a powerful build, so you'll need it.

    Good motherboard.

The RAM is REALLY expensive. Really, you don't need more than 16 GB of RAM - actually, you never need more than 8 usually. For gaming, it's 8 GB max. I would get one of these kits, two if you run video editing or any other really memory-intensive tasks.: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

Everything else is fine, if you can afford it.

BUT you missed one thing. The GRAPHICS CARD!

IF you didn't have the graphics card this computer wouldn't even show up on a monitor, since it doesn't have an iGPU.

For such a high-end build, I would reccomend a top-end graphics card: the Nvidia GTX 680. Like this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

And if you've really got money, you can get the the GTX 690, the most powerful single you can really get today:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

So yeah, nice computer. Not exactly one I would reccomend for a beginner, since it's definitely an enthusiast build. If you wanted to actually save money, get an i7-3770k, sabertooth Z77 board and a GTX 680. Same gaming performance for much less.

a windows 8 version of the mobos will probably be available soon. ASUS just released them. maybe it's only a firmware update or something. I don't know. but it will probably be an advertised feature.

that is, if you want windows 8.

go for the 64GB of RAM (8x8GB) and the system can use it for disk cache or you can use it for RAM disk, etc. you would need 4 sets of that memory.

don't forget a cpu cooler. suggested is a zalman cnps12x.

I am hoping they come out with a thunderbolt mobo for X79 soon.

the corsair carbide 500r is a good case for cooling, configurability, and maintenance and can take a corsair H100 closed loop water block cpu cooler should you decide to go that route. and their fans are quite good it looks like. hydraulic bearing (AF series fans).

get a blu-ray burner. some software comes on blu-ray discs now.

other than that, looks compatible to me.

The parts are compatable. You certainly dont need this much power for gaming, that is a workstation cpu for rendering. You do not have a graphics card, a cpu cooler, or an ssd. I highly suggest a modular power supply to reduce cable clutter.

What do you plan on doing with your computer? Specific games and programs will help.

    Ok, couple of things.

First that chassis is the exact one I am currently using, and it's great, lots of room, easy to install components, great airflow, keep in mind however, it is quite big.

2nd: I noticed that you are missing a graphics card, if you are going Intel, go with a Nvidia graphics card. And you dont have to go all out to get great performance.

3rd: The processor is a little overkill, unless you plan on overclocking you dont really need it, go with the i5, or i7 2600k

    Source(s): My PC: Windows 7 64 bit RAM: 16gb DDR3 Processor: Intel i7 2600k 3.4 ghz Graphics: Nvidia GTX 680 Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth P67
