learning machine sewing easy childrens dresses?
can anyone suggest an easy template for sewing a childs dress. I have a new sewing machine and want to learn to sew.

(I assume you want to buy a "pattern," not to get a "template" online or elsewhere?)
The easiest girls' *dresses* to make will be ones with only a few pieces, and no set in sleeves, etc. Many of those will be summer dresses (so no sleeves) or they could be worn over a knit top for sleeves, etc, and they'll often have *gathering* at chest area.

This page shows several "learn to sew" patterns by Simplicity. http://www.simplicity.com/c-386-learn-to-sew.aspx These patterns will provide detailed instructions and will generally be easier.
Surprisingly, children's clothing can be quite challenging because the parts are so tiny. Also, they often use a type of flat construction that isn't used in adult clothes. My recommendation would be to begin with some simple adult patterns and/or some home dec patterns.
