What type of clothes do guys wear nowadays?

So I'm in college and I feel so out of the loop with what's cool to wear. My closet basically consists of just Nike, DC, and Puma t-shirts, and cargo shorts. I mostly buy my clothes at Marshalls or JC Penny. Where do most guys shop and what's in style today?

That's a difficult question to answer. Earlier in the 2000's, I could easily direct you toward Hollister, American Eagle and Abercrombie and Fitch and you would be really "in style". Now... things have changed. A majority of men college age tend to go with brands like DC, Nike, Under Armour, Puma, ect. There are also some people who are skaters who favors brands like Vans or Volcom. It really depends what your style may be.

I'm of college age and I prefer brands like Polo, J.Crew and Tommy Hilfiger. I prefer to dress more "prep" simply because I prefer a more clean cut look.

It all depends on what you like and what your interests are. You are going to be looking for a job eventually so I recommend going clean. You can wear team jersey's on big sporting days but day to day, go to a department store like Macy's (where you can get great deals on really nice brands- great coupons!) and try things on that you like. There's nothing wrong with mixing a little bit of prep style with some skater style or some punk or all-American.

It depends on what you like. You can never go wrong with solids. Nice cuts of jeans, polos, tees, ect. Nice sweatshirts, ect.

It really depends on what you like and what your budget is.

Your question is hard to answer because it all depends on you as a person, hope I helped as best I could.

Also, I recommend, if you can, try and invest in a few quality pieces. No matter what your style, they will really help your wardrobe. Ex: A great pair of khakis is something you can never go wrong with. Same for a good winter coat or a leather wallet.

Brand, per se, doesn't really matter. A pair of jeans that look great from JC Penny could fit your body type and look a lot nicer than a pair of jeans from Gucci. Try things on, I cannot stress that any more.

Also, try and stray away from tee's with brand logo's on them, you are not a billboard and you're not in middle school anymore.

If you wanna get nowhere, follow the crowd! Remember, quality never goes outta style....so my advice, hard to go wrong with Levis 501, 505 or 517 jeans...then top it off with a cool button up, solid white tee in the hot weather, a favorite sportsteam hoodie in the cold....but then again, I am near 40 so my advice may not help on a college campus....good luck!
