Why did it take Hurricane Sandy so long to hit the US coast?

If the planet is rotating in an easterly direction at about 1000 MPH, and the Hurricane was moving in a westerly direction, why did it take so long to hit the US Coast? Shouldn't it have hit the coast within hours of formation?

If you look at it that way, you could say the storm is moving maybe 990 MPH in the same direction, and the East Coast is slowly catching up.

Hurricanes move in a slow speed but spinds in a kinda fast motion which makes the wind gust. But Sandy begin to form in the south America area so it moved slowly going into the carriban that made it kinda slower. But the slower the hurricane is the more damages it does

Hurricane Sandy is going so slowly because God is planning a large catastrophe to hit the Atheists in the US. Right now God is giving you a chance to repent your sins before Sandy arrives but most people are not utilizing this opportunity. Return to God or rot in hell.
