Shouldn't the Presidential Election be on a separate ballot than other more local elections?

Most Americans want to vote for the President, but when they get a ballot, how many really bother to know who the candidates are for the lesser offices? In reality, most people don't want to bother to know or don't have the time to figure other issues and candidates out so they fill in dots willy-nilly, agree? It's like how many people really bother themselves to vote Primary Elections (I do)?

Update:

I don't think it's snotty.. I think it's real.

Update 2:

DW, shouldn't they put on the ballot that the different areas can be left blank areas can be left blank at least? Doesn't the standard ballot make people think that if they vote for 1 item on the ballot that they're obligated to vote all the offices on it?

Update 3:

I think a lot of people don't have much understanding of the election system to begin with. I remember when I tried voting on 9/11 on a Primary when the card I got sent made me believe I could, that I couldn't because I wasn't affiliated with a party. I was 39yo at the time.

It's your choice not to get involved with your community and become aware of its issues and candidates, but the ballot designers shouldn't *encourage* that type of local apathy. They should keep the national and local connected so people remember that there's more to an election than the big stuff. You're free to ignore the little stuff if you don't care about it, but the designers should try to discourage you from ignoring it.

edit: I don't think there's such thing as a standard ballot. Every state has its own way of doing it. I've never seen anything on a ballot that suggested I had to fill out the whole thing to make it valid.

Why do you assume that most people don't fill out or care about the rest of the ballot but you do? Pretty snotty attitude, I think.
