What type of dog do you have and how long do you walk him/her?

We have an American Bulldog, hes 17 months old, weights about 7-8 stone.

I take him out for 2 hours in the morning and my partner takes him out for half an hour in the evening. After I take him out in the morning, he is like a cat, just sleeps all day and is as dosile as anything. Before I started walking him for longer in the day, he was so mischevious, he would get things in his mouth and torment us with it, or he would charge around the house with great spead.. he used to be a right handful... no, he is like a sloth!

What do you do with yours?

I have a 1yr old Cocker Spaniel. He gets walked for between 90 minutes to 2 hrs daily. I have only been doing this for the past few months because before that he was too young and I was cautious about overwalking him. It has made all the difference in the world. He has gone from a hyper active pest to a calm chilled out good boy that does as he is told. Total transformation and all it took was the right amount of excersise.

I also have an American Bulldog (I love her to death) and a Beagle/Dachshund mix. Because I live in Florida, I exercise them dramatically different amounts at different times of the year. From May to September, we usually go about 1 to 2 miles a day. For the rest of the year, we usually go between 3 and 5 miles.

I have a two year old Weimaraner, he weighs 30kg approx!

I take him for an hour every morning (9am or 10am) to a local wood. Then I take him to hunting lessons, fly balll or to agility or frisbee in the garden with him most afternoon. He is the best dog I could ever have asked for, he's cuddly, my constant companion and has never bitten anyone (apart from teething) or growled/barred his teeth. He is very cheeky and tends to pile toys at your feet if he wants you to play! He is driven by food and often sits just with his nose touching ourKitchenn table when we eat, at which point I send him away! He never likes to be left alone, so I leave the radio on when I go out, he can be ahand fulll when being lead, so I use ahead collar on him. I love him so much!!

I currently have an adult male Doberman that is in the peak of physical fitness, taken out daily jogging which he loves, has a soft mouth and enjoys chasing a gundog dummy so that is the direction his training took and enjoys being outdoors running and tracking to work off surplus energy, combined with training exercises that gives him something to think about. In a day he has between two and three hours depending on the weather, less keen to be out and doing anything if it’s wet and my commitments. Easily distracted as a younger, he matured in an adult that pays close attention and ignores everything going on around him unless release to play or track.

My senior b*tch has degenerative joint disease and problems with her hips, so no impact exercise and forced to live life at a steadier pace than she would ideally like. Still runs and tracks, but kept away from areas where there is an abundance of rabbits, as she would sprint after prey with single minded intensity, regardless of the stress on her joints and pay for it the next day with stiffness in movement. Exercised separately she has two hours exercise, and is still on her toes ready to be outside and doing something.

I own three dogs, a 12 yesr old pointer, an 8 year old lab, and a 2 year old great dane/ american bully mix. i am also fostering an unknown spitz breed.

the pointer has trouble with excessive excersize, especially in the colder wheather. so h only gets to walk half a mile in morning and afternoon, then a lot of obediance training to excersize him mentally.

the lab and great dane are walked together right after the pointer, and they get two hours o walking total.

the spitz gets two hours of walking in thw morning, and another hour ib he afternoon.

keep in mind; I also set aside an hour to play frisbee with all dogs, and two hours to review and learn tricks.

i take my dog out four times a day ... when we get up we go for a half hour walk (maybe a little more if the weather is super nice and it is really early) ... his main walk in the early afternoon ... i call this his fun walk cuz i will bring him to the beach or the park and play fetch, let him run off leash, and we are gone usually an hour or so ... around supper time we go for another half hour or so walk ... and before bed it is just around the block ... my dog is a five pound chihuahua cross ...

I have an Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix. I take her for about 3 walks a day around the block and try to let her run either with me or at the dog park as much as she can. She is very high energy but seems to do fine with this.

I have a Siberian Husky and I don't walk her that much. Instead I give her bike rides with my bike leash for a good 45min+. A walk is really nothing for a Sibe, they have too much stamina/energy for the average pet owner.
