  • What should I do about this person with their potentially extreme views about white people?

He is Nation of Islam. It is obvious, because of the views he has about white people. He is a black guy with an Islamic surname. Then he said he has a book for me to read. No doubt about the group he is part of or about conspiracy theories.

He said that there are pyramids in other places other than Egypt and the media and teachers lied to him about that. He also stated that the media portrays black and mainly Africans people as uneducated and illiterate.

He is telling me that I should know my history and refer to myself as Jamaican

(even though my parents and I were born in England) I should also know who my ancestors are and know about my heritage.

I will not allow him to manipulate me and adopt his same views they think that white people are the devil and evil.

So if he carries on, I will have firm words with him, make him question himself and then report him.

What I do not understand is if he hates white people so much, why is he in a predominately Caucasian country and working for a white person?

  • What is your opinion of food banks?

I went into an express supermarket on the high street some time last week. Upon entering, instead of security guards there was a mass of food bank volunteers shoving a list in my hand for the people in need.

The volunteers were blocking the entrance so it was a nuisance for shoppers going in and out of the shop. When I did get in, I felt put off and under pressure to donate when I exit. It felt like they would not let me out unless I donated something. I felt under duress. So I just walked out.

I think in future I will just get my groceries online. Have you felt under pressure to donate.

There are people in this country that do not want to work and blag illnesses just to get sickness benefit or they pop out kids and think the country owes them a living. Not to mention them having expensive games consoles and Sky!

I work part time, however, money is limited for me but money is not an issue, I am very sensible with my money and I save even though I am on minimum wage. I was once in debt to my eyeballs once, I had no luxuries, I had to learn to budget.

Have you felt 'pressured' to give to a food bank

  • Asking for money for a honeymoon?

We have been invited to a wedding where the bride and groom have written a poem asking for money for their honeymoon.

They must be spending tens of thousands of pounds on the actual ceremony and reception because the groom said a couple of months ago that it is costing too much money.

They are both professionals in their line of work and must be bringing in £50,000.00 a year combined between them.

What is the etiquette regarding asking for money in an invite?

  • What can I do about the neighbour's kids climbing over the garden all the time?

We are sick to death of the children TRYING to play football next door and they keep kicking their ball over to our garden and then climbing over to get it.

My partner and I are a young couple and we notice that the kids climb over to get the ball and then look into the house. We are a passionate and spontaneous couple so, you would think that we have privacy but it seems we do not because the brats in the neighbourhood think they are within their jurisdiction to come onto our property.

Their mother has told them not to climb over to our garden, but today, the eldest kid picked up the youngest one and put him into our garden.

They have been doing this for the past year... since they have lived here. I am really sick of it now. We have a large dog and I know that if the dog went for them, the dog would be destroyed! Surely, the kids are coming over at their own risk.

What can I do to stop them climbing over all the time? The fence we have is a picket fence and the kids are damaging it too. We are thinking of erecting a larger one but I do not want to pay for it.

Today, I was so sick of it, I started shouting and ranting.

The dog was not listening to me and wanted to be around the kids. I then started throwing things in anger and later, the children went into their house.

I am beyond frustrated with this all now.

  • Is it bad if you put your dog in a cage at bedtime and when you go out?

I have just had a barrage of abuse from a load of people saying that it is inhumane to put a dog in a cage all night to sleep. The cage is huge and the dog has more than enough room! In the mornings, I let him out to do his business - he never messes his cage and he does his business and while he is out, I do his breakfast, he then comes running back in going back into his cage because he is conditioned to know what his food is served to him in his cage (with his cage door open) and then when he has eaten, he has free reign of the house for the day!

Some of the people let their dogs sleep on their beds or in the bedroom! I did not attack them or impose my views on them like someone sort of right-wing tyrant!

What are your views and your pet's sleeping arrangements?

  • No luck with work- what should I do?

For the past week I have worked in an office 5 minutes from my house. It is a clothing manufacturing company. I have not had any formal training, I have no experience in the fashion industry, but I applied for the job because I would be coming out of the unpredictable finance industry and it asked for someone who is self-managed and proactive. However, the director there is a bit of a hothead and speaks to colleagues and members of his family (family business) like something on the bottom of his shoe. Today even, his wife works in accounts and he was shouting at her in front of everyone and he took one of her invoices and scrunched it up and threw it in the bin. I heard her sniffling and sobbing in the corner. There is always a tension in the office, like walking on eggshells. When he went on his lunch, the other colleagues shrugged their shoulders to show the weight had been lifted from their shoulders! One colleague has to whisper if he is talking about the director. Also, he has been there since August last year and had had no CONTRACT! There are no clear fire exits either and no health and safety documentation stuck on the walls.

I have no set schedule or plan of action as to what has to be done day to day. I have to wait for the director or his brother to give me something to do. I have not been formally trained either, just thrown in at the deep end. I have seen the hothead was too busy throwing wobblers and screaming at other colleagues who have been there several years/months and they get things wrong today and for the past week... so I did not want him to go off on one with me. I even had to second guess myself about sending him an email asking if there was anything to do. I did not send the email because I did not want to anger him. I should not be in a workplace where I cannot approach the director should I?

My position has had a high turnover of staff... with alot of predecessors practically walked out because they did not like the way the hothead spoke to them.

So, I remembered on the job application, where it stated that the potential employee would have to use their initiative and be proactive. I made up a spreadsheet to be sent to the factory in a few days time of items that we were waiting on this week( fabric samples etc)... also with it being a long bank holiday weekend... I wanted the factory to know what we needed and by when.. because our client has expectations and deadlines!!Hothead shouted over to me "What are you doing?" I told him and he seemed alright. Then, at the end of the shift he took issue with my work and said that I have wasted my time!

He then told me not to come in tomorrow and that he would call me in the morning. I thought I was doing something good.

Do you think I should just leave the job?

  • Not feeling appreciated at work?

I have been in my current job for 3 months. I work for a sub-prime lender... a furniture supplier, we do hire purchase without credit checking people. The clientele are low income earners, benefit recipients and bad credit risks.

I work in the debt department and you can imagine how challenging the role will be with the types of customers I have described. They have loads of reasons why they cannot make their payment for the week and then they fall into arrears. Alof of customers just come in, get as much furniture as they can and then do a runner. The sales department need to hit their targets and are grateful when someone else signs up for goods - get the customer to sign and then no doubt, my department is the one who have to chase and trace the customer.

I have 200 customers to chase a week, whereas other colleagues have 40 customers to deal with. I know the brief details of all my customers and the other colleagues know nothing about their 40 customers.

Some of the managers do not take the calls and the customers tend to complain and the manager takes their side of it...calls are not recorded. I take and make as many calls and I am stuck on calls for other departments.

I had a 90 day review today,I worked over - FOR FREE IN THE 3 MONTHS! Just to prove I was dedicated and good for the job... character-wise at least. But because the debit is not coming down... they say I am not cutting the mustard. It is like getting blood out of a stone.

    I just feel so unappreciated.

I am thinking of handing in my notice next week because it is only a weeks notice I have to give, plus, my last pay is a week after handing in the notice. I am debt and mortgage free.

I will not claim benefits either, I will just live on my savings.

    What do you think?

    5 AnswersFinancial Services8 years ago
  • What would you do in this situation?

I was working in a job that I hated. I have savings so I contemplated handing in my notice and just living on my savings until I looked for a new job in the new year.

I went for an interview a day after I handed in my notice and then I was called for an interview on the same day. I was offered the job today, on the condition that I start on Monday.

My notice period for my current job is 4 weeks, so my notice should end on 7th Jan because I handed it in on 10th December.

The current role is an £11k pay rise. The new employer said that he cannot wait for me because of the Christmas period and training availability.

    What would you do? Honestly.....

  • Is this lucky or what?

I am not happy in my current job, so I handed in my notice on Monday (part time earning £7k per year - call centre job, scripted, horrible customers)

I applied for a job that was perfect for the skills and experience I have. Within the hour, the recruiter was calling me to see him in the next half an hour.

I got there and I was offered the job, there and then! This job is a £11,000.00 pay rise as well!

  • Should I hand in my notice?

I was wondering, in my current role, we are really short staffed, could I hand in my notice without the manager declining it.

I work in collections for a credit card company and the customers do not pay up when they are supposed to and it is me that gets it in the ear when the customers go back on their word!

There are many other things that annoy mw with the job, but that is the main reason why I am going.

  • Charity workers asking for bank details?

Have you ever had one ask for your sort code and account number on a direct debit mandate? They start off with an elaborate sales pitch! You may as well give your bank details to someone on a phising email? What happens if the paperwork gets in the wrong hands?

I have seen on some of the copies of the forms where they ask for proof of the bank details, such as your debit card, cheque book or paying in book.

How do you feel about charity workers asking for your bank details on the street?

  • What type of dog do you have and how long do you walk him/her?

We have an American Bulldog, hes 17 months old, weights about 7-8 stone.

I take him out for 2 hours in the morning and my partner takes him out for half an hour in the evening. After I take him out in the morning, he is like a cat, just sleeps all day and is as dosile as anything. Before I started walking him for longer in the day, he was so mischevious, he would get things in his mouth and torment us with it, or he would charge around the house with great spead.. he used to be a right handful... no, he is like a sloth!

What do you do with yours?

  • Why do dogs keep barking at my dog when I take him on walks?

I take my dogs for walk and sometimes, if there is a dog being walked across the road as well... that dog will bark uncontrollably at my dog.

He dog is as soft as anything. He is an American Bulldog.

Also, my dog only barks when we put him outside to use the toilet and either he has been out too long for his liking or it starts raining.

My dog is not that vocal. He is usually very well behaved when I walk him, if he spots a dog on our walks, he will stick his head right up just to keep his eye on the other dog. He does not whimper or make a single noise. I say "Pay attention" and he snaps out of it and continues walking.

Is it a bad thing that other dogs bark at mine?

  • Why do some girls fall for the 'tell her what she wants to hear'?

I know someone (female) who frequently uses that sleazy Plentyoffish website. She meets guys and she tells them her issues and then she tells me that the guy is amazing, understanding, loving and potential bf material. She said he liked sex 3 times a day etc

One guy stopped with her for 4 days, then didnt see her again, said that there was a sporting event he would rather attend. She didnt hear from him again... that was last Saturday. Monday just gone, she is at some other bloke's house and saying that he could be the one. This guy likes sex alot. She is staying with this guy for a week.

Why do women fall for it. I tend to think like a bloke and I know this one will end in tears! Personally, these blokes have sex on tap for a few days. There is not chase because she sleeps with them within 24 hours of meeting them.

Then, when it is time to part ways.... the guy drops her like a cold bag of sick! I have told her that she should not give it up so easily because they are just after one think by telling her what she wants to hear!

    Why????

  • General question - what do you think of the website Plentyoffish?

    The infamous dating website?

What do you think of it, what are your views or experiences of it?

I have a friend who met a guy from another city on there and they met on Monday and he has stopped with her in her flat and is going home tomorrow!

I dont know how people can do that? Maybe I am old fashioned!

    Over to you!

  • Which do you prefer, to give blood or donate money?

Personally, I prefer to donate blood because that could actually save a life.

There is something at work where the parents are asking people to donate money for their sick child. Half the time, money does not go to the cause - have seen it many times in the news etc.

So, which do you prefer, donating money, platelets, bone marrow or money to save lives?

  • What do you think of backdoor breeders?

A neighbour wants to breed his big bulldog breed with another ***** of the same breed.

There are no papers to prove the dog is of a pedigree blood line.

I generally hate people who breed for the sake of money, there are already enough unwanted and abandoned dogs in dogs homes!!

  • Anyone proud not to be reading 50 shades of grey?

I refuse to read it but I am sick of all the women at work nattering about it like witches around a cauldron!

I refuse to read it because I have a very fulfilling sex life and I know if I read this, I would be disappointed because the sex 'scenes' in the book are boring apparently!

I know what happens at the end, and I find the end very ironic judging what the sorry is based on!

What do you the people who generally read it, do you think they are not getting enough? All the women that go on about the book do not like when their men look at porn!! They get jealous if their men so much as look in the direction of another woman! But these women fantasise about this men during sex! Which I think is odd and a bit eery if you ask me!
