First time paintballing: Got any tips?
To be more specific: I'll be playing paintball for the first time in my life in ~ 1-2 months, and I've heard (and seen) that it kinda hurts, plus I got a couple of other questions, so:
-When do paintballs leave bruises?Do you need a powerful hit to get a bruise?
-Where we're going to play, there may not be protective clothing for genitals.Do you know any thing I can use as an improvised safety device for that part of my body?
-What kind of pants would be best suited for the game?
-Does it hurt (obvious question, but just sayin')?
-If your gun gets hit, does that count as a hit on you (the player)?
Any other tips you may have are greatly appreciated.

- Hits leave welts mostly, not really bruises. They'll look like red rings, kinda like hickeys. Bruising depends on where you get hit and how close it was. I rarely get bruises, maybe once or twice in 9 yrs.
- Wear a cup, or drape a folded hand towel or tshirt over the front of your pants (half in, half out). I don't usually wear any protection there, since i've learned to position myself so my junk is rarely exposed, and most players aim for your torso more than below the belt, anyway.
- Durable pants that still allow freedom of motion. Nothing tight. Some relaxed fit jeans, cargo pants, military bdu's, or actual paintball pants. I've seen guys wear hospital scrubs (just the pants), and they've held up well, but they're thin.
- Hurts a little, but the game gets your adrenaline pumping, so you won't really notice pain but rather the hits are more of a surprise.
- Any part of your body, anything you wear, and anything you hold counts as a hit. So yes, gun hits count. Hopper hits count. Tank hits count. If you pick up a stick and that gets hit, it counts.
- The best advice i give folks is communication. Talk to your teammates during the game, coordinate movements, opponent positions, stuff like that. Communication wins games as much as skill does.

A paint ball will most likely leave a bruise every time you get hit but not always. Sometimes the paint ball can break skin even through clothing. Where blue jeans, more mobility plus the faster you are the less you will get hit or if you want something that will stop the pain were snow pants. YEAH IT HURTS but only for a minute you will be pumped full of adrenaline the pain will go away quick. Normally if your gun gets hit your not out. Its not part of you body so it wont be considered a "kill". If you can were a cup don't worry most people wont aim that low on you but if you are worried well go buy a cup. It is always recommendedd that if you have never played before that before you start the game have some one shoot you once in the back that way you have any idea of what your up againest. When you get good at paint ball the pain wont scare youand you'll just run out guns blazing.
