Description: This addresses an issue where customers may not be able to get passed the 'loading online contacts' screen with the Yahoo! Messenger for Android Application.
Current Status: We are actively investigating this issue and working to provide a resolution as quickly as possible.

Gets stuck at "loading online contacts" and never loads them. They can see my texts but cant respond. Version 1.8.3, Samsung Stratosphere, Verizon. Problem started 10/30/12 at 5:32 am PDT. Still not working as of this post.
Same error on Samsung Galaxy Tablet, same version, also Verizon.

If "Background Data" is disabled on your Android mobile device, it will prevent the Yahoo! Messenger for Android app from completing the task of loading your contact list.
Follow these step for solution:
Step 1: Sign out of Yahoo! Messenger for Android by tapping your ID at the top on the screen. If you do not see your ID at the top of the screen, tap the icon repeatedly until you do.
Step 2: Tap Sign out of Messenger. The sign-in screen will then appear.
Step 3: Exit the application.
Step 4: Access the Settings for your mobile device, and enable "Background Data".

Everything on my Samsung galaxy s3 was already fully updated... I'd cleared all cache, and data.
Background data by default is on.
But still not working! This is driving me crazy. I've had a question on you forum for almost 24 hours and the only reply I'm getting is from people with the same issue.
Enough is enough!!!! Will you fix this or not???

This is happening to me and it started yesterday 10/30/12. Is this due to the hurricane or something? I have an LG Motion Android. I keep getting the "Loading Contacts" on my phone which shows all of my contacts offline, when they are really online. I am unable to get their messages and they can't get mine. This is also happening on my laptop. I have the latest, newest version for both phone and computer. My background data is on by default. I cleared data and cache too. PLEASE let us know when this if fixed!

I have the same problem on android app last few days AND on the website interface, so it may be a server issue rather than the app itself. On my phone (Galaxy SII android 4.0.3) if I go to Settings / Accounts and sync / Yahoo!7 / Sync now I get "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" - which is a long way of saying that the sync failed :p

Mine is now working fine after two days of being down because of the "loading online contacts", hope remains this way.
