Why do I feel gross after getting a flu shot?

I got a flu vaccination yesterday, and all day after that I started feeling fatigued and sore. It's currently 5am and I'm so sore that I couldn't sleep. I'm nauseous at the moment as well, and I am super dizzy/weak. Is this a coincidence? Why do I feel so disgusting and how can I make it go away?

Thanks!

it's just because the flu vaccination is actually the flu, just a smaller amount of it. They give you the virus on purpose so your immune system fights it and then recognises it when the virus enters your system out in public places. It's the same with all the hepatitis needles and things like that. Your body learns what it is, it learns the what it needs to do to get rid of it and also, what it looks like so it can fight it when it hits you harder through catching it from someone else.

You feel so bad because your body's fighting the virus, the after effects hit people differently, it's just hit you harder is all. The best thing you can do is drink as much water as you can, aim for 2 - 3 litres a day. That seems like alot but while you're sick, it basically just flushes crap out so you need alot more than the reccomended 1 and a half litres a day. Take a heap of vitamin C. 2 oranges or 3 vitamin C tablets twice a day. Eat small meals but healthy ones. Even if you just boil some vegies and that's it or have some soup. Last but not least, get as much rest as you possibly can. Even if you can't sleep, just lay down and close your eyes.

It can be really fustrating to just lay there when you can't sleep so if you really don't want to just do that, try doing it with some music playing on a radio or through earphones, just keep it quiet. Otherwise, you could lay down and watch some tv or a couple of movies. Just as long as your body isn't stressing itself.

Ok, I'm really sorry you're so sick sweetie, I hope you get well soon. Just rest and recuperate.

When you get a flu shot you are actually getting the partial flu virus into your body. The reasoning behind this is so your bodies immunity will make antibodies to fight the flu if you are exposed to it. Its pretty normal to feel kinda crappy after a flu shot. If you are a realtively heathy person you should be ok soon. Just rest, your immune system will do the rest.
