How to keep my infant from catching my cold?

I have a 17 day old baby and for the past 3 days I've had a sore throat that gets worse each day. Can can I do to make it heal faster and also to make sure my baby doesn't catch it? She's not had any shots yet and I'd really hate for her to get sick. I've tried salt water gargle and honey/vinegar gargle. Neither helped. Please help!

Keep breastfeeding, wash your hands often.

There is no cure for a cold -- you just have to wait for it to run its course. (Gargling with honey or salt-water will sooth the sore throat, but does't kill the virus.)

If your throat is very sore though, check with your doctor. You could have strep. (Though the good news there is that infants rarely catch strep.)

Wear a mask when you're holding her (sucks but it's effective) and make sure you engage in appropriate hand washing. If you're not singing Happy Birthday twice or one verse of Old MacDonald while scrubbing, you're not washing your hands long enough.

Keep breastfeeding her - she'll get your antibodies in the breastmilk. Apart from that and basic hygiene, not much you can do.
