Name of fable/short story?
I can't remember the name of a fable I hear of a long time ago. I dont even clearly remember exactly what happened in it, all I remember is that the story was about a fox (or a wolf?) offering to carry another small animal across a small body of water. As the water gets deeper, the animal on the fox's back has to continually climb further up the fox until it is sitting on its nose, where the fox quickly eats the animal. Anyone know the name or any additional details about this story?

I think it might be The Gingerbread Man. When he's running away from the people all the way through, and when the fox helps him across the water and he gets eaten?? I think it was just a childrens book rather than fable.
Hope I could help :)

A variation of a legend:

"The fable is used to illustrate the position that the behaviour of some creatures is irrepressible, no matter how they are treated and no matter what the consequences."
