Which birth control pill is most effective? (Any doctors out there?)?
As most twenty year olds out there, I'm sexually active. I want to ensure that I don't get pregnant anytime soon. My boyfriend and I love each other very much. But we don't want any babies at the moment. So I was wanting to know which brand of birth control is most effective and most trusted?
Thanks!

You can't go by what others tell you. You have to work with your doctor to find what's best for you. For example, a few years ago, I was prescribed a birth control pill that I was told would stop me from having periods altogether. Well, for me, it didn't work. It didn't even slow down my periods.
No matter what you decide, no birth control pill is 100% effective. It's best to use condoms in addition to the pills. It would greatly improve the odds in your favor.

I have had a lot of experience with different types of BC and I came across the best method for me about 2 years ago. I have Implanon and I absolutely love it! Its a small matchstick sized plastic bar that goes under the skin on the inner arm above the elbow. I don't have crazy hormone problems anymore, it doesn't give me headaches like the pills did, and my favorite thing is that I don't have a period but maybe 3-4 times a year! My OB says its one of the most effective birth control methods out there because it is a hormone continually released into your body. Ask your doctor for some info on it! And btw, it doesn't hurt when they put it in your arm! They numb you first and you just wear a band aid on it for a couple days til its healed.

dr. here. rather than rank the effectiveness of different brands, i highly recommend that you make an appt. to speak with a knowledgeable health care provider at a "planned parenthood" near your home.
these are federally/private funded clinics for women with concerns exactly like yours. ther are many forms of birth control and you can explore which one is best for you at this time in your life.
