I'm actually writing an essay on the millennial generation for an organizational behaviour class, so I might as well throw my two cents in as a study review.
From what I've gathered so far, the millennial generation (people born roughly between the early 80's to the late 90's) differs from previous generations in that it grew up in a fast paced and frequently changing world. They don't know a life before technology. While this makes them very plugged in, it also has made them impatient; they require immediate feedback. Older people (such as yourself, I presume), view this require for immediate feedback as "neediness" or "a cry for attention". I'm not sure if you feel this way as well, but at least there's an explanation for it!
Now, the millennial generation comprises mostly of children from the baby boomers. This has a put a huge amount of pressure to perform on millennials, and when they aren't performing to expectations, people from older generations regard them as "lazy". This pressure has also made millennials feel that older generations have a much high work ethic than they do - which is quite intimidating, given the huge mass that baby boomers represent!
Remember that if you were a millennial, you would be acting the same way! Try to see the world from multiple points of views. :)
PS. I would never do any of the things you listened, and I haven't come across anything that says millennials are complete douchebags. It may just be your area.

Well that made me feel great about myself. :/ Not all young people are what you have described. Open your eyes a bit, you will see good people.
