What are English muffins?

I'm english and don't know what they are. What i would call a muffin isn't and e'english muffin'

and why do americans stereotype the english in liking crumpets? I've never understood that one either

it's not because I've never seen an english muffin in my life. (as in in real life) nor have I ever eaten one. It may be called something different but you didn't exactly help. What would it be called?

    English muffins are a kind of pasty you eat. I went to the UK and every morning for breakfast that was what I ate. It's just a different name for something, like we say "mom," you say "mum."

    In the US English muffins are crumpets. Same as MacDonalds egg McMuffins
