Technically, people might say "my vocal cords hurt" (plural), but they are much more likely to say "my throat hurts" rather than locate the source of the pain precisely in the vocal folds. They will also say "I have hurt my vocal cords through singing" after receiving a diagnosis to that effect from their physician.

Vocal cord: "Vocal cord nodules are benign (noncancerous) growths on both vocal cords that are caused by vocal abuse. Over time, repeated abuse of the vocal cords results in soft, swollen spots on each vocal cord. These spots develop into harder, callous-like growths called nodules. The nodules will become larger and stiffer the longer the vocal abuse continues."
in other words, the longer and louder you sing, the more pain you going to absorb from your vocals. give them a rest love. :]
Throat: it's simply a passage of food from the back of the mouth to the stomach.
Biologically its vocal cord but it just sounds weird so say throat.
If it continues to hurt and feel like it's swollen- see a GP.
