Help replacing an old attic pilot light switch?
The old pilot light switch that I am replacing for my attic had four terminals on it; a black and white wire connect on each side. The new switch that I purchased to install has only three terminals: a silver screw and a brass screw are on one side, a black on the other. I've tried a few combinations but none have worked. If anyone has any insight please share! (and I'm only a novice DIYer, so easy on the jargon please!)
This was a not a 3 or 4-way switch. How do I know which wire is "load", which one is "line" and which one is "common"? And what do I do with the 4th wire?

I'm not sure why your old switch had 4 wires/terminals. Most pilot light switches only have 3 terminals. Assuming you want the pilot light on when the light is on, then connect them thusly: black (line), brass (load) and silver (common).
Was this a 3- or 4-way switch by any chance (light controlled from multiple switches)?
