Electric smoker trips breaker?

I have an electric smoker that trips ever breaker I plug it into except one, the plug in that is on the same breaker as my dryer. The smoker didn't used to do this. I can still use it, as long as its plugged in to that breaker. Any idea what's going on or if there is an easy fix?

Sounds like you have a smoker that is suddenly drawing more power than it should or your breakers are weak or operating at the maximum for them with the smoker added to the draw. Either get a qualified professional electrician to do a service on your system or take the smoker to the local service center for a check up or the easiest is to purchase a new smoker.

To check if the smoker is within specifications you will need an amp probe to read what the draw is and compare it to what it should be. If there is a fan in your unit and it is the cause of the overload then I would suspect fan bearings are dry and need a good lubrication. WD 40 is not adequate to that problem.

You may just have too many things on that particular circuit overloading the breaker, and it trips. How many things do you have on the circuit total (not plug you will have several plugs on the same circuit), and what amperage does each require? If the total exceeds your breakers amperage it will trip the breaker.. thats what they are supposed to do. You likely have a 15 amp breaker on your wall outlets (or thats what you are supposed to have with a regular outlet, a 20 amp outlet has one of the prong holes that look like a sideways T or one slot sideways those should have a 20 amp breaker) It doesnt really take that much to overload a 15 amp.. for instance a microwave and a vacumm will trip it, or maybe a halogen light and your smoker. My suggestion is to see xactly what it is you have all on that line. Unplug stuff and see what happens. If its not that your smoker is most likely fried/grounding out somewhere.. dangerous.
