Did God ever intend for our world to become a Social Network?

Actually, according to the Bible, He already punished mankind once for using its ability to communicate to spread arrogance and believing themselves to be self-sufficient.

Remember the Babel Tower?

He removed people's ability to communicate with each other and created confusion.

I personally don't believe in this story literally, but I agree with the theologists who claim that this may happen in the future, in the form of some sort of world event that will make our communicationnetworks to fail.

For example, a big solar flair that will fry the satellites and the power grid, thereby leaving us without internet, cable, GPS, electricity, nothing. Back to the middle ages for years.
