    That's a hard question.

It really all comes down to what happens to the global economy.

The technological innovation and advancement that we have seen for the last 100 years has been due mainly to the stability and affluence of the great nations of the world. Much of the technology that exists today needs a large amount of infrastructure to produce and maintain. That level of infrastructure is incredibly expensive.

If Europe or the US economy crashes, it could potentially lead to a regression and loss of technology (look at the Dark Ages and the general ignorance and loss of knowledge that the Romans had).

If we still manage to keep muddling along, our advancement might continue.

I find it difficult / impossible to have any optimism about the world 100 years from now, assuming there still is one with people on it other than in caves

No, we are in such a rotten and filthy state with all of the corrupt "governments" and greedy politicians and evil eugenicists that I can't imagine this world lasting more than 25+ years from now. I'm not saying it won't though, just that I can't imagine it.
