why is old music not popular anymore?

why is old music not popular do people just stop listening to music when they get older. Like music now in 20 years will not be popular anymore why is that do people just stop listening to music when they get older?

Update:

I think music now is crap, I love old music but you have to be blind if you dont think old music is less popular than new music how many radio stations are there for new music? tv channels? its unfortunately true I was just asking why.

Popular music is defined by what the kids are listening to as they're the biggest fans. The kids listen to the radio, the charts and watch the music videos and what's mostly played is new stuff. It's trendy to listen to new music when you're a kid.

Old music is still popular, just not among the kids.

This doesn't even make sense. Obviously new music is going to be more popular, it always was. When your 'old' music was new, it was more popular than the music that came out 20 years before it.

It's not true at all, that "music is crap now". Music has never been better, thanks mostly because of the internet. Instead of b i t c h i n, how about you actually use what you have available to you. Something that was near to impossible concept to grasp just 25 years ago.

I like old music. 60s rock. Old music isn't as mainstream because it isn't new anymore, just like older pop songs are still listened to, but aren't as mainstream.

i'm 55 and have listened to tons of music despite not listening to the radio since 1984 or so...popular has nothing to do with it, and we can't help it you're retarded enough to place so much importance on what gets radio airplay.
