Can I legally sue my step mom for this reason in the state of Tennessee?
Alright, I live in TN. I am currently 17 years old, turn 18 on November 23rd. My step mom banned me, not my brother or anyone else, just me from TALKING about politics. The reason why is because every time politics are brought up me and whoever (everyone in the house basically, including her) get into it. I believed in Obama. They, including my brother who is a year younger than me, believed in Romney. I asked my brother why, and my brother just chose him because he wasn't Obama.
I asked him a few questions about Romney; things anyone who truly follows a candidate would know. My brother did't even know his political party. My step mom got mad cause I was "bullying" my brother... when all that happened was I wanted to see if my brother had a reason or if he was being spiteful.

What Momma says in the home GOES. You cannot force her to let you do anything in the home. You would actually sue your stepmom for something like this? This is frivolous! She can turn around and file a police report when you are caught in the act of disturbing the peace in her home and being an incorrigible juvenile. At least that would be better than being charged as an adult.
Too funny! Can u imagine if we all wanted to sue our parents????

Exactly what monetary damages have you incurred from not being able to talk about politics in you parents' home? Because it's kind of hard to sue someone if no damages were incurred.
Also... as a minor, you can't sue anyone to begin with.
As to your first amendment rights... perhaps you ought to try actually reading the first amendment.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Unless you mother is a member of Congress and somehow managed to sneak in a law stating that you can't talk about politics in your parents' home, the first amendment doesn't apply here.

actually she will, your father lost all custodial rights at the same time as he were given locked up and has no say so till he's out and takes it to court docket. there is no longer a lot you are able to do till you turn 18 and or petition the court docket to develop into and emancipated minor (meaning you've the duty of taking care of your self, employ, nutrition, transportation, application expenses, your cellular telephone, the internet, coverage and so on and so on and so on and so on)

Try actually reading the First Amendment before assuming its something you can use to file a lawsuit against your step mother.

She can ban you from talking about politics in her house. It is her property and she can set whatever rules she wants.
In a public place, she cannot restrict your speech. However, suing for that would be difficult.
