My infants ears are constantly dirty?

I feel like I am always cleaning and wiping out my infants ears, at least 4-5 times a day. Whenever she wakes up from her nap, the outer rim of her ears are always crusty and have buildup. My child is 4 months old. Any advice on how to prevent or care for this?

First thing first ..STOP cleaning her ears ...and don't listen to what the other person said....DONT clean her ears with soap and water at this time. She has an ear infection and needs to get some antibiotics ASAP before it spreads to her throat or nose. The ear, nose and Throat are all connected. HOPE THIS HELPS GOOD LUCK!

I would check with the doctor. She may have an infection that is causing a lot of discharge from her ears. Or if it's along the outer edge of the ear, that might suggest eczema.

It contains antibodies - these are living cells, no artificially made formula in the world contains those. It also contains the agent that breaks down the lactose in the milk , therefore it is easier to digest for the baby. It is also more convenient: no bottles and teets to sterilize. No water to boil, no expenses for formula. The milk is always and anywhere available with the right temperature and always the right amount. The composition of the milk also changes to adapt the needs of a growing baby. Breastfeeding also releases hormones in the mother that make her feel relaxed and drowsy, that makes breastfeeding a perfect way to relax. And it helps with the recovery from birth as the uterus contracts during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is also said to reduce the chance of breast- and ovary cancer later in life. All these things are what made me decide to breastfeed.

Try center cleaning it with a wet wipe or mild soap and water. Then make sure it is dry and put Vaseline on it. This helps my daughters ears.

It sounds like she has an ear infection, that much discharge isn't normal. I would call the doctor and take her in :) Good Luck!
