Canon Powershot S100 problems?
I got a Canon Powershot S100 camera, and it came with a Lexar Multi-Use 8GB SDHC memory card. I used the memory card fine for about eight months and then suddenly one day, the card stopped working. When I put the camera on, it gave a memory locked and a memory card error message. When I look at the images on the camera, I see that they are all incompatible JPEGS which are represented by question mark thumbnails. I never took the card out or anything, it was working fine, then for no reason while the card was in the camera this just happened, I couldn't take any pictures after this. Also, it gives me the message of unidentified image with the same yellow question mark thumbnail. Please help, if you have any idea what is going on, please tell me.
The card was working fine, I could view the pictures and everything. I didn't see the need to format it, the card came with the camera. If you could view it properly, why is there a need to format the card in a different way. I did back the pics up on my PC.

You are going about it all the wrong way. Firstly, you are meant to format a brand new memory card before using it the very first time. Did you do that? If not, why not? Your User Guide tells you to do it.
You say, 'I did back the pics up on my PC'. No, no no...Memory cards are not meant to be used as permanent storage, only temporary. You are meant to transfer your pics to your PC, then back them up to an external drive or CD/DVD disk, etc...then delete the files from the card.
In future...to prevent card errors it's best to make a habit of regularly formatting the memory card via the camera Menu. So, what you should be doing is...shoot/record, transfer ALL files to your computer at the end of the day if possible, back them up, then format the memory card in the camera to delete all files from it. You then have a newly formatted card ready for your next shoot. Do that, and the likelihood of your card developing errors is much, much less.

If you're lucky the little slide lock just inadvertently got locked. Just slide it up to unlock. Did you ever format the card in the camera, as the manual told you? No? That's why it failed. Did you ever load the pics on your computer? No? Not good. Do you regularly delete pics you don't want with the cameras delete feature? Best way to ruin your memory card. The camera is not meant to be used as a viewing device and the SD card is "flash memory" NOT permanent storage.

This is extremely common. The camera uses a different format structure than your PC. The card willwork fine at first, but with time as you add and delete photos, it gets confused. Things will just get worse until you format it in the camera. See the following for more info:
