Why don't we solve the state budgets by making a FAIR SALES TAX - tax investments and stock purchases too.?

Why should only the poor pay sales tax on everything they earn - since they must spend it all to live?

Everybody's always trying to flatten income tax and tax the tiny incomes of the poor - flatten the other and tax some REAL money.

Update:

Why should there be a tax to buy children's shoes and winter coats?

Yeah in Texas there isn't a tax on perishables or an income tax. Poor can afford to live here. Even rent and utilities are pretty low.

Democrats don't understand that sales tax and high cost of living hurts the poor more than anything and often shoves the poor into dangerous neighborhoods.

In my state food is excluded from sales tax. Rent does not have a sales tax on it.

Investment income is taxed. Why should there be a tax to buy a stock?

I might buy and sell the same stock 3 times in a day and I am already taxed on the gains why should I pay a sales tax on the purchase ?

Putting a sales tax on stock purchases would make the economy even worse. It might even cause the market to crash. Really bad idea.

Why should businesses pay any taxes at all? They don't have the vote.
