Does the US still allow slavery?

"The borrower is slave to the lender" - Proverbs 22:7

Yet there are credit cards, mortgages, payday lenders and all other kinds of borrowing that's allowed .

    Even under Sharia, people manage to borrow--in those cases, the slight of hand is the bank "owns" the property and rents to the borrower for a set length of time, then transfers the title.

    hmm well its an interesting question.. the HUGE difference between then and now is that back then you had something called debtors prison..
