    Y varies jointly as x and z

    y = kxz

    16 = k(1/2)(8)

    16 = k(4)

    4 = k

    -------------------

    y varies directly as the square root of x

    y = k√x

    Y = kxz/w² ----> ok = yw²/xz ok = 20(5)²/(-0.5)(4) k = 20(25)/-2 okay = 500/-2 ok = -250 k is the consistent of variant. It can be units is determined by the units of the variables. Y = (-250) xz/w²
