Restless Leg Syndrome and MMJ?

I don't live in a state that has medical marijuana, so I'm not looking into that entirely. However, I've just ran across the term "restless leg syndrome" and I'm not sure if I have it exactly. I know that I should consult a doctor to be certain, but I would like a few general opinions.

I've had these symptoms for at least 5 years:

Every once in a while, right before I am going to sleep, I feel this tingling jerk/twitch begin to develop in my legs

When I am asleep, I barely wake up to my other half telling me to "stop it" or "cut that out". Most of the time I sleep on the floor because I don't want them to be bothered in their sleep (and because I have back problems). When I wake up, I am told that I am kind of "running in my sleep", like a kicking up and down of one or both of my legs. I raise my leg(s) and just drop it back down, or I am just twitching my legs.

So, other than the occasional twitching of my legs before I am going to sleep, I sleep like a baby. The majority of the time, I have no problem going to sleep. The only thing is that when I am asleep, most of the time, I have the twitching or kicking episodes where I am running in my sleep.

I think I have RLS, but I am not entirely sure (mainly because I am still looking into this RLS).

Onto the MMJ, I have read that many people say the marijuana helps their RLS. (I think I've also read that wine and some alcohol also helps it.) I rarely smoke marijuana, so I really can't say for sure if doing so has alleviated my incidents.

Can someone give some insight as to what they think of my situation and what MMJ does for RLS?

Update:

@Hannah, I do not understand how you "learn to control it". If you mean by medication, either over the counter or prescribed, please, tell me, but I have no control over shaking the bed when my partner is asleep. That is one of the worst things, I can barely be in the same bed as my lover.

Yea dude, your fortunate. Your residing in the only state (rather than alaska) the place medical professionals will perscribe scientific marijuana for almost some thing. I live in washington, and that i are not able to get clinical considering the fact that medical professionals are to strict. In Cali, all the doctors smoke weed, so they've no problem perscribing it. Just go in, and inform your surgeon that your again throbs non-stop, at all times. The back anguish is to much to handle with OTC's, and you don't want to get hooked on discomfort pills. You ought to seem the healthcare professional within the Eyes when your speaking to him, and sound very sincere. He'll write you a perscription, and you'll have to purchase a $200.00 medical card. Then which you could go to dispenseries, and buy weed.

MMJ is best used for serious, life-altering diseases. I have Restless Leg Syndrome and I learned to control it. Using MMJ to control that would be like abusing it.
