Out of those? Only one in that list was actually good, but whatever...
1. Reagan. Fostered a strong, unified front against the Soviet Union during the Cold War and promoted free market economics at home, in both cases leading to prosperity.
2. Truman. A dunce when it came to economics, but still far better than his predecessor. He made bold decisions that helped speed up the end of the war, but also foolishly told Stalin about the A-bomb.
3. JFK. Also approved some crappy legislation that hurt the economy (what else are Democrats for?) and royally f**ked up with the Bay of Pigs, but showed superb leadership and discipline in defusing the Cuban Missile Crisis while maintaining our military advantage.
4. Nixon. Before the Watergate scandal, he actually did quite well, especially in foreign policy. He did more to improve our relationship with China at a crucial time than any preceding president.
5. George HW Bush. Tried to emulate Reagan, but failed. Also approved a huge tax hike, breaking a key campaign promise. Only upside was a quick and decisive victory in the Gulf War, making sure to get everyone out, as opposed to trying to remake Iraq.
6. Clinton. Presided over economic prosperity and good reform of the welfare system, though he took a lot more credit than he deserved. He was at the center of several scandals, ranging from selling high tech weapons to China to lying under oath.
7. George W Bush. Championed large tax cuts that spurred healthy economic growth which in turn led to increased revenues and initially responded correctly to both the terrorist threat centered in Afghanistan and the WMD threat from Iraq, but screwed both up by insisting on trying to democratize both countries instead of cleaning house and getting out. He also approved a disastrous string of new regulations and bailouts.
8. Carter. Gas rationing, total lack of leadership, fumbled attempts at micromanaging the economy, and helped to replace the US-allied Iranian government with one that was and remains decidedly hostile and dangerous. Total failure.
9. FDR. Waited far too long to face the threats posed by Germany and Japan, imprisoned over 100,000 innocent people in awful conditions for no good reason, showed no interest in getting rid of segregation, extended and worsened the Great Depression by drastically raising taxes and imposing crippling regulatory burdens and government takeovers on businesses, and acted more blatantly unconstitutionally than any other president in history.

i think in the days of the war and before Presidents had to know there stuff, they had to make deals that mattered.
since the war i think its become more and more of a show case job and most of the hard bargaining is done behind closed doors.
a lot of people put JFK high up on the list but i think the truth was that he was very poor as a president, he was to busy partying and seducingn women

1. FDR
The greatest ever. The people loved him. He was elected over and over again. He brought the country out of The Great Depression. His only flaws as president that I'm aware of were Pearl Harbor happened on his watch, the Japanese American internment, and he did little for racial equality.
2. Bill Clinton
He chose his staff very well and collectively they were very good at economics. He had some trouble with foreign policy on his watch but America was a peaceful place and economically booming in the 1990s.
