Bob gave us a sense of relaxation and freedom. It was very prosperous in Australia at that time. No one worried about a power bill or water bill and could fill the car up ANY day of the week without waiting for a so called ''discount cycle''. We all could buy a house on 500 bucks deposit. I personally didn't have a care in the world as there was always money in my pocket.
Then Paul Keating began the legacy of knifing the Boss in the back and from then on we have got what we have got today. Lying , back stabbing politicians out for themselves --and Australia? Well as far as Im concerned, Australia is the poorer because of it.

From 1980 to 1982 I was married, had two children, working full time as a nurse. What that has to do with Bob Hawke is a mystery to me, but that is what I was doing.

1983 to 1991 (So Google says)
Mother of very young children to begin with, then as the years went by working outside the home as well as being a wife and mother.
I'm fairly certain Malcolm Fraser was PM 1980 to 83. He called a double dissolution and lost the subsequent election.

I owned an offset printing shop in Roma street, Brisbane, the Communist party was just down the hall, our building backed onto police headquarters so we shared their driveway, a blue flashing light would go off every time we left, everyone always gave way.
I would print for unions, preservation groups, art & literary magazines, lots of alternative stuff, you would have loved it Jay D.
My presses did a lot of good over the years.

My parents got married in 1983. I was born several years later and hadn't started school until Paul Keating was PM.

I was working in finance and the money market in Sydney, then living in London and travelling the world. I well remember that fateful day we won the America's Cup and there was our teetotal PM slurring his words and calling people Bums.
