What is the problem with my Dell Latitude D620?

When the laptop is turned on, two keyboard lights flash slowly. (the caps lock and down arrow) After a bit, the bluetooth light comes on briefly, then the laptop turns off.

Update:

The laptop does NOT boot up past the post. While the bluetooth light comes on breoifly, the laptop quits at that point. It stops booting up. Sugestion to do a diagnosics might work, if it would boot to a working screen, which it does not.

All previous ideas are good, if the laptop would boot up, but it does not. I thought maybe someone could tell me what the flashing lights mean, that is the kind of problem. Keyboard, memory, bios problem, and so forth. Nice try people, thank you for your help on my poorly described problem.

Hardware diagnostics test built into the laptop (if you have the original hard drive) or on the Dell.com Technical Support website - run it to see what the results are for a hardware issue.

The Technical Support page also lets you scan the laptop to get the hardware profile for it so that it can give you a "customized" list of driver updates (and possibly the BIOS may need updating, too). Be sure to print off the list of which category to update in order - then write down the drivers for your operating system so that you install them in that order (it is simpler to do it "correctly" the first time).

Neither of these options should require you to do anything that will wipe out your current personal information. It doesn't hurt to do a back up of your personal information, though - just in case something unexpected happens.

Source(s): Dell.com > Technical Support - look for free hardware diagnostics test I bought two Dell D620's & updated & upgraded them to sell so I could upgrade to a new Dell. I've run the diagnostics, updated the drivers, and replaced both RAM and hard drives.

Your laptop is in error state....

It indicates that there is some proble woth your POST Settings.. where POST Stands for (Power On Self Test)... it should be hardware error.. with your motherboard shortage... for this first you have to follow these steps..

first of all remove the battery then plug in back.... then turn your lapy on again...

    1. try to change ram slots you will find in the back side of your lapy.

    2. if it doesn't work then change battery cell.. it is located under your keyboard.

    3. the last thing is your motherboard....
