Are you still able to get incandescent light bulbs?

Or are you using all fluorescent? The fluorescent aren't birght enough for me to read by. They work ok as ceiling lights. But to read without my eyes getting tired I need the 200w incandescent. They said that wasn't going to be available anymore, but I notice they are. Eventually I may have to order online, but am not sure about ordering a light bulb online. Seems like it would break in shipping.

Update:

I usually think num num is a bit over the top. But this time you're right on! Is that becuase I agree with you this time? lol

I am glad to hear I can order bulbs online. ty

Update 2:

But light bulbs are important J. At least to me. Reading is a big part of my life and the fluorescent just don't cut it. And yes it makes me mad that some person can arbitrarily make a law that I have to use a certain light bulb? Holy cow!

They are widely available in Canada.

It turns out that the incandescents are not all that energy saving. They take more energy to make, require special handling when they are done, and, the don't give off heat. In Canada, where home heating is an issue, we now have to use more fuel to keep the house as warm as it was with the warmer incandescent bulbs. The difference is small, to be sure, but, added up over the whole country, it's actually pretty significant. For Canada, florescents actually do not save any money at all.

I've bought light bulbs on-line. They were well packaged and there was no problem with the shipping.

I don't like the compact fluorescent bulbs at all. I use a few of them in areas where not much light is needed, but I think they are just plain lying when they talk about how many lumens they put out.

For reading, I use incandescents. And because of the evil and stupid government bureaucrats who have decided that people who like to read are more dangerous to "the planet" than people who live in big houses and have five kids, I am hoarding my light bulbs.

I prefer the CFLs, especially the 'full spectrum' ones, though they cost quite a bit.

I use 2 full spectrums in the barn. To run the incandescent would be too expensive for what little help they give to egg laying.

I think the CFLs give off better light, but one has to look at the wattage equivalency to make sure they are getting the right one, which can be confusing when trying to figure it out.

We can still buy many types of incandescents in our area.

Them stupid yellow 'bug lights' that are suppose to help prevent bugs from coming around DO NOT WORK.

I am wondering why all overhead lights are now frosted. It seriously cuts down on the amount of light in a room. We had to replace a few of our overheads in the house & it was very tough finding a fixture that wasn't frosted. We had to settle for frosted in my partner's room. No one around here sold a clear form of that type of light.

I just wrote a wall about light bulbs. I REALLY need to get a life!

I have not used the incandescent for so many years I can't remember. I have a clear daylight cur -lie- cue 150 output in my kitchen overhead and seldom use it as it is too bright.

If you have trouble reading get the daylight ones as they are very bright. And the 'wattage ' is 150 - 200. Try home depot.

Bulbs have to be shipped to where you can buy them.

Stores here in King County, WA sell them. I have been stocking up on them for a long time. Fluorescent lights are okay for under counter kitchen lights or in a workshop, but otherwise I really hate them.

I get mine at Kroger and Lowes.I do not use them as a matter of principle. To me this is the enviromental movement getting out of hand. The same reason I refuse to recycle or hug a tree.

Yes! Try Asian shops as they are not as daft as other shops and seem to have a constant supply
