Front derailleur will move but the chain won't move with it, please help!?
Basically I have a BeOne hybrid bike and I'm having trouble with the gearing. Both derailleurs move fine and the rear derailleur is effective in moving the chain around the cassette, the front derailleur moves fine but the chain does not move around the crankset with it, therefore to change into a harder or easier set i have to move it manually. Anyone have any ideas as to what it is and ideas on how to fix it?

It's pretty obvious that the front derailleur isn't properly adjusted. The problem could be one or all the possibilities mentioned by the other people who have answered your question. The fact that the derailleur moves only indicates that the cable is connected between the shifter and derailleur

You need a derailleur adjustment. There is a barrel adjuster where the cable exits the shifter. If you cant shift to a larger chain ring turn it out. If it wont go to the smaller one turn it in. It should shift one way or the other.

You need to adjust the front derailleur, I've had similar problems recently, I found this YouTube tutorial really helpful, have a look, if you're not confident of trying it yourself you might need to spend some pennies at the bike shop and they'll do it for you it won't take them long and shouldn't cost too much

The limit screws may be set too tight, the chain may be too worn, or the chain ring may be worn, or possibly the cage may be too far away from the chain rings

I agree with Tim C but if you are determined to try yourself follow the instructions on this link http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/front-der... and if you cannot manage that go to a cycle shop. Hope that helps.
