QUESTION ABOUT DIABETES. My Dad and his two younger brothers have diabetes and they got it in their 50s.?

But the eldest and the second eldest are NOT diabetics. My uncle once told me that their diabetes was caused by their lifestyle. My question is this: My father died because of multiple complications (inckuding cardiac arrest) due to his diabetes and we all knew that he never took care of his disease. His younger brother also died of diabetes (cardiac arrest). The problem with his younger brother is that he, like Dad, never seen a doctor because he was very thrifty. He knew he had diabetes but he did not know what happens to his vital organs.

This is my another question. The fact that both of them died of heart complications due to diabetes, while my three uncles are 100% healthy, does that mean that heart disease runs in our family?

Please. I want a good answer. Thank you very much for your time reading and answering my concern.

Diabetes increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. 50% of people with diabetes die of cardiovascular disease (primarily heart disease and stroke).

You have risk factor for diabetes mellitus type 2. Healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a normal body weight and avoiding tobacco use can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Don't get fat and you won't get Type II diabetes.
