Air compressor air quality?

How does air compressor air compare with the ambient air. I know water comes out when the air is compressed. Is the compressed air considered "dry"?

It depends on the compressor. An oiled compressor will have some amount of oil in the air along with moisture. It will also contain concentrated amounts of anything that is in the air near the compressor's air intake. If you want breathing air from a compressor there are rigs for that with filters and seperators. You have to be carefull about what goes on around the compressor when it is being used for breathing air such as engines running near by etc. Look up OSH standards for breathing air.

No it is not dry and if you don't have a water trap on the air too line the water will shorten air tool life. Only some moisture is condensed due to compression not all.

The air inside the air tank on the compressor is the same as the air you are breathing only compressed to a pressure above atmospheric pressure, and it might be a tad less humid but not much.
