What is the Sabbath? And do muslims have to follow it?

I really know nothing much about the Sabbath yet. I am curious to find out. If Jews and Christians follow it, could there be a reason for Muslims to follow it as well ? Unless this is tradition and not based on religion.

Muslims follow their own "sabbath" on friday and it is called " jumu'ah ", but could it be that the muslims are following their sabbath on the wrong day??

I don't study these aspects of religion that much, but something sparked my interest today, so I just want to know more.

Update:

Shouldn't the Day of Rest be similar for all people? Why should it be different days for different people?

Update 2:

I get it now, I think. I just read a verse from the Quran that says that the Sabbath was decreed only for those who ended up disputing it.

Muslims have theirs on Friday, Jews and SDAs have theirs on Saturday, and Christians ave theirs on Sunday. If you're into that sort of thing, I suppose the important idea is that ONE day out of the week is a "day of rest".
